Does anyone have any yarn suggestions (brands, that is) for the Colchique sweater? I was thinking sort of a deep charcoal or navy would be nice, but I need a yarn that doesn't shed hairs all over the place. The other person who lives in my apartment is highly allergic to wool, but if it isn't the sort that sheds a lot, he might be alright. Something soft, maybe?

a merino wool is about as soft and non-irritating as wool can get. I love Karabella Aurora 4, but it is pricey. Jaeger Matchmaker 4 ply is great but very hard to find (check out Janettes Rare Yarns and Cucumberpatch on Ebay for the Jaeger 4ply). Several knitters on here are using Knitpicks Merino style and are liking it a lot. Dont know about the shed factor on that one. My experience has been the other two shed almost not at all.
good luck.
I would NOT reccommend the recently discontinued (thus, super inexpensive) debbie bliss wool-cotton, which I thought would be an economical alternative. Besides not getting gague (not that it has ever stopped me before!) it highlites uneven stitching.
thanks for the advice!

p.s. you know what would be cool? if someone could add a link on the left side (where the english version of the pattern is linked, etc) where there is a list of all the yarns people are using for the project, and they could put comments about their yarn and how much they had to buy, etc...? how does that sound?
oh yeah, does anyone have an opinion on knitpicks merino style shedding?
I'm planning to start this project but kind of confuse about how much yarn do I need for the whole thing. Any suggestion??
